Book Review: Pleasure Unbound

Book cover: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione

Pleasure Unbound is one of those books I didn’t expect to like as much as I did. As the title and cover imply, there are plenty of steamy scenes with the dominant, ripped, ungodly handsome, and, of course, brooding yet sensitive love interest. Urban fantasy fans will be pleased with Tayla, the ass-kicking female protagonist with enough harbored anger toward men and life in general to be her own black hole of despair. There are also demons aplenty, painted in detail, with dissimilar powers, as well as vulnerabilities.

And the vulnerabilities are what drew me in. Each and every character had a flaw—often major, sometimes mysterious—which the author put to good use. The combination made for some messed-up relationships rife with conflict. The action sequences were decent, the world intriguing, enough so that I could forgive that every other thought of every character was about sex.

I’ve already purchased the second book and am ready to dig in.
