Book Review: Magic Triumphs

Book cover: Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews

I’m glad I took my wife’s advice and read Iron and Magic before tackling Magic Triumphs. Without that little gem, there just wasn’t enough coverage of Hugh and Elara in this book for me to connect with them. So, if you’re thinking of finishing this one off, then heading back for the “new” series, make a U-turn right now for Iron and Magic. You won’t regret it.

Magic Triumphs was a great finish to the series, no doubt. I felt like it wandered in parts, but in true Ilona Andrews fashion, it pulled together into a big and unexpected finish. I always love when a book surprises me in a plausible way (well, as plausible as you can get in a world with magic and gods running around, hehe). The fun part was comparing Kate’s relationship with everyone to where they started out—Ghastek in particular. Great evolution for sure.

I could tell you to go pick up this book, but if you’ve made it this far in the series… you know you’re going to, so stop scrolling reviews and start reading. =]
