Fire Touched picks up shortly after Night Broken, and I’m pleased to say it didn’t disappoint.
Mercy and the rest of her pack kick things off by facing a bridge troll—and I don’t mean those cute little guys with big, colorful hair. This one eats cars, people… pretty much anything it wants, and it’s insanely strong.
How did it break loose from the fae’s tight control to wreak havoc on the Tri-Cities, you might wonder? So do Mercy and Adam.
The answer, of course, isn’t as simple as it seems, complicated by the all-powerful Zee asking the pack’s protection for a mysterious young boy with a fiery touch (get it?) who isn’t young at all, and is a few slices short of a loaf in the manners department.
Mercy and Adam once again find themselves in the crossfire of something bigger than them, and they must pull together to keep things from spiraling apocalyptically out of control.
Fire Touched explores yet more of the fae, giving us deeper glimpses into Zee, Baba Yaga, Beauclaire, Mercy’s entertaining walking stick, and (my favorite) the mysterious Underhill. Fans of the Mercy Thompson series definitely won’t want to miss this exciting episode.
